Welcome to your new RAD SOURCE RS 2000 irradiator time
calculator.
This application will assist in calculating the set time to
achieve a total or accumulated dose at various dose rates or shelf
levels.
As a user, you know that there are 6 possible shelf levels plus
the bottom cage position inside the black RAD+ reflective chamber. The
Inverse Square Law dictates that the closer to the x-ray emitter (top
of chamber), the higher the dose rate; the trade-off to higher dose
rates is smaller field size.
The most popular and useful levels are included in this
applicaton:
- Cage: Inside the RAD+ placed on the bottom of the chamber,
used for small animal whole body irradiation
- Shelf Level 5: The highest practical shelf level that still
offers reasonable size for Petri dishes, well plates, falcon tubes
etc., used for High Dose Cell or targeted tumor irradiation
- Shelf Level 3: Provides the largest field size allowed with
the RAD+ still in place, used for cell or targeted tumor irradiation
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Upon first entry, you will be taken to the calibration
screen.
- Once there, enter the centerlane dosage rate for each
particular level. This information is available on your RS 2000 dose
map sheet that was left with the unit at installation. This only has
to be done once, or after the unit has been recalibrated. Hint: After
entering the value, touch anywhere outside the keyboard to commit
that value.
- After the calibration values have been entered, go back to
the main screen by touching the "Location" back button.
- Choose the location you wish to calculate the dosage for.
- The resulting table will provide the set time to use for
typical Accumulated Dose results
